A feller can learn a lot from his Grandpa.

(That is, if he’s willin’ to listen.)

        It may not be the most tactful advice you’ll ever receive, but if you pick through to the gist of what he’s saying, you’ll find a pearl you can tote around in your pocket for a lifetime.

        As for me, I’m sure I wasn’t listening all the time.  I was probably thinking about pretty girls or baseball cards or how stupid cows look on any given day.  But now as I reach into my pocket, I find that over the years I have collected more than a couple of valuable tokens of Grandpa’s wisdom, and I’m reminded of these principles nearly every moment:

    “You’ll someday give account to your Maker for all you do.”

    “Do what’s right, even when nobody’s lookin’.”

    “Give folks more than what they pay for.”

    “Treat everybody like they were yourself.”

        Grandpa helped to steer me in the right direction.  He taught me how to work hard and how to serve others in what I do.  He started me down the right path.

        Graphic design is my trade.  But it’s not what I do that’s important.  It’s what I do for you that really matters...and I can live with that.
